Waterway View is a unique project that brings "Google Street View" onto public inland waterways. Launched in partnership between the Marine Industries Association of South Florida and PlacesMobile Inc, an official Google Street View content provider.
Waterway View project is being piloted in South Florida on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) through Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and part of Monroe counties. The Street View imagery captured on the ICW is being published to Google Maps where it can be accessed and viewed by the public just like the Street View imagery captured on the roadways.

Along with the Google Maps display, PlacesMobile Inc is developing an interactive mobile app called "Waterway View". This mobile app is for the public to use free of charge when boating in the South FL region and beyond. This is also being launched in partnership with the Marine Industries Association of South Florida. The mobile app is targeted to go live in late June 2018.
The regional benefits to this program are quite significant. The boating and yachting public will be able to find, see, and learn about local points of interest near them as they travel the waterways. These points of interest include;
- Local Favorite spots (sandbars, parks, raft-ups, tiki bars, etc)
- Waterfront and inland favorite restaurants
- Restrooms, free docks, picnic areas
- Marinas, fuel docks, bait, drinks, ice, supplies
- Drawbridge locations and info
- Marine services (boat service, dock builders, shipyards, parts and accessories, etc)
- Boat & Yacht Brokers / Sales / Charters / Rentals
- Boat Shows and other regional events
- Fishing Charters / Excursions / Water Taxis
- Important up to date announcements and notices
Regional business benefit from the Waterway View mobile app by being displayed to users when they search the category of the business services. A paid display listing will provide the public with as much visual, text, links, videos, virtual tours, as the business desires to show them. Businesses can also purchase their own Geofence notification spot. What this means is that when a user of the app gets in close proximity of that GPS point it will trigger a message to the user's mobile device. That message can provide the user with videos, written information, links, pictures, coupons, or anything else the business wishes to send out. The message can be changed on a weekly basis if desired. The Geofence spots can be at bridges, parks, events, restaurants, marinas, basically anywhere that will reach the most amount of users. Geofence spots are one business per spot for a specified period of time and are first-come basis.
Businesses that participate in this program enjoy a direct and intimate connection with the in-market boating and yachting public. They find and explore your business through the app, and you know when they are in your area and can send direct messages to them at that time.
